Membership Process for Nevada City Cohousing

Step #1 - Become an Associate Member by:

 

Attend an Orientation/ receive orientation folder

 

Observe first general meeting*

 

Observe second general meeting**

 

Visit site

 

Submit interest form with unit selection

 

Pay $100 non-refundable membership dues

*   If four months have passed prior to attending a meeting, the prospective member will need to attend a second orientation.

**  If a prospective member misses more than 2 meetings in a row, they will need to attend one make-up meeting before resuming the membership process where they left off.

 

Step #2 - As an Associate Member:

 

Receive member password and group emails 

 

Receive Associate binder and programs

 

Review member website

 

Meet with buddy to review group history, procedures, ask questions, etc.

 

Attend first general meeting as Associate Member

 

Attend second general meeting as Associate Member

 

Contact point person of a committee of interest

 

Attend a committee meeting/conference call

 

Join a committee and get on committee email list

 

Buddy recommends for Full Membership

 

Step #3a - IF a unit is available, become a Full Member by:

 

Submit Full Member application to Membership Committee

 

Pay 5% of the desired unit type estimated sales price

 

Sign LLC and Disclosure of Risks

 

Pay $100 to petty cash quarterly for one year

 

Step #3b - IF a unit is not available, get on the Wait List as an Associate Member by:

 

Pay $100 to get on the wait list (this goes to petty cash)

 

Pay $50 to petty cash quarterly to remain on the wait list
